Torbay Pharmaceuticals rally round to support Ukrainian refugees

Teams at Torbay Pharmaceuticals have collected food donations, gifts and essentials to fill children’s backpacks, and delivered them to Ukrainian refugees in southern Moldova.

Members of staff kindly donated food, toiletries, water bottles, stationery, toys and lots more for the backpacks.

Based in Paignton, Torbay Pharmaceuticals is a contract manufacturer wholly-owned by Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust. Its appeal for donations received a great response from both staff and the local community.

In order to deliver the donations, a team from Torbay Pharmaceuticals flew to Moldova where a large number of refugees are staying as a result of the conflict in Ukraine.

The response from refugees was overwhelming, with many expressing their gratitude to everyone who donated and said this was a real boost at such a difficult time in their lives.

Matt Jackson, Head of Quality at Torbay Pharmaceuticals, said: “Thanks to the generosity of everyone at Torbay Pharmaceuticals and other local donors, we have been able to provide food parcels for up to 700 people who otherwise would have had very little.

“We were also able to deliver the donated backpacks for the kids, who were so happy with the gifts they received which meant a lot to them in a difficult time.”
