Hawkins Avenue, Torquay to undergo essential Road Works

Major highway maintenance will be taking place in Hawkins Avenue between Upper Cockington Lane and Sherwell Valley Road during the school holidays.

Work will commence on the road on Thursday 26th July 2018 and will last for between 6 and 8 weeks to complete.

During this time the road will be closed to through traffic.

Councillor Robert Excell, Executive Lead for Community Services said:

The road needs to be reconstructed to bring it back to a good condition. Unfortunately, due to the type of work necessary to rebuild the carriageway the road will be closed. Regrettably, this will mean alternative parking options will be need to be arranged by affected residents as they will not be able to use vehicles to access their properties.

We are really sorry for any disruption that this will cause. Please be aware that pedestrian will still have access at all times.

Local Bus Services affected

Unfortunately the road closure will affect local bus services.

The bus services will be re-routed along Upper Cocking Lane, Drake Avenue, Nut Bush Lane, Sherwell Rise South and Sherwell Valley Road.

To assist buses with their temporary route, some light tree pruning will be undertaken and a number of temporary parking restrictions will be implemented accordingly.
