Find a job that needs your skills at the Torbay Jobs Fair

Anyone looking for a new job can meet with Torbay and South Devon employers, who are recruiting, at the Torbay Jobs Fair in Torquay on Friday 27 September.

The Jobs Fair returns to the Riviera International Conference Centre and will be running from 10am-1pm. Devon and Cornwall Police, NHS, McDonalds and Gooch and Housego are some of the businesses who will be recruiting on the day.

Councillor Swithin Long, Torbay Council Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration, Tourism and Housing, said: “This event continues to grow and delivers excellent outcomes for the businesses and people looking for a new job in Torbay. In March, the Jobs Fair helped generate job interviews, matching job vacancies from 60 local employers with the skills of the 700 candidates who attended. With businesses across all sectors, we look forward to creating job outcomes and helping more people find permanent, temporary and seasonal roles.”

The Torbay Jobs Fair, which is delivered by TDA, Torbay Council and Jobcentre Plus in partnership, brings a range of employers from across Torbay and South Devon together in one space.

Connor Conneely, Economic Development Officer at TDA, said: “There will be live vacancies on offer from local employers across all sectors including hospitality, care, construction and retail. Getting to meet the employers face to face to discuss the roles available and its suitability for you provides a real advantage to getting the right job. Over 200 people have secured work through the Jobs Fairs so far.”

Jobcentre Plus Work Coaches will be available throughout the day to support and help people. The National Careers Service will also be available to offer advice, guidance and support with CVs.

Karen Palin, Employer Engagement Manager at Jobcentre Plus, said: “Previous Jobs Fairs have been a real success because the event provides an excellent opportunity for candidates to meet and talk to employers who have vacancies. The Jobs Fair will help people fulfil ambitions and find a job that they desire and matches their skill set.”

The Jobs Fair is free to attend and you don’t need to book. Supporting the Disability Confident Scheme, the Jobs Fair is operating a ‘quiet time’ session with Jobcentre Work Coaches from 9.30am-10am for those with additional needs.

Come prepared to speak with employers face to face about the vacancies they have available, dress to impress, have your questions ready and bring your CV.

Visit all the stands, all employers and recruitment agencies have real jobs on offer, that’s the difference of this event to others. For more information please call an employer advisor at Jobcentre Plus on 01803 356184 or visit www.tda-business.com/jobsfair
