Featured Account: Beach Hut Magazine

TQ3 Publishing Ltd has published The Beach Hut magazines and The Paignton Summer Guide since 2006!

Gesche, the publisher of the magazines, moved to Preston after working in London for ten years, five of them at The Times. Her background is in publishing and direct marketing and she was looking for a new challenge when inspirations struck – that it would be brilliant to have a community magazine in Preston that would tell residents what’s happening in their area, giving local businesses the opportunity to advertise their services to their core audience – local residents.

Six months later Gesche was approached by the Chamber of Commerce in Paignton – apart from wanting a Paignton Beach Hut magazine, they also thought it would be a great idea to have a magazine that promotes only Paignton. The Paignton Summer Guide was born.

The magazines were very successful and in 2011 Gesche was approached by the Community Partnership in Chelston/Livermead/Cockington – resulting in a the third Beach Hut mag.

Gesche believes that a community magazine should be useful, tell residents about what’s on in their area, and to give charities and other organisations a way to reach out to residents. She has been very much involved in the Preston and Paignton Community Partnerships, organising events and campaigning for positive change in the area. She organises The Preston Picnic and the Preston Community Christmas Tree every year. Gesche is passionate about helping small businesses achieve great marketing results – often helping with the optimisation of ads, and giving free marketing advice. The Beach Hut and The Paignton Summer Guide champion local shopping, and the small, individual businesses.
