Technology Enabled Care in Torbay provided by NRS Healthcare

NRS Healthcare will run technology enabled cared services, TECS, in Torbay from the 1st October 2018.

As the name suggests, technology enabled care refers to a range of services that utilises technology to support patients.

This support enables the patients to stay independent whilst handling long-term conditions.

Technology enabled care can also offer reassurance to family members about their loved ones.

An example of how this level of enabled care works would be a daughter receiving a message about their mother if they missed medication or a pendant alarm.

An initial NHS service

Initially Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust ran the service.

However, following a procurement process earlier in the year to seek out a company who could ensure its modernisation, innovation and value for money.

NRS Healthcare were chosen to provide the technology enabled care service.

NRS Healthcare have an excellent track record and breadth of clinical expertise in this field.

NRS will also work with the Trust to deliver its TECS strategy over the coming years and look at completely transforming the way that technology supports health and welbeing services.

Ann Wagner, Director of Strategy and Improvement for Torbay & South Devon NHS Foundation Trust said:

“Technology can support our lives now in a way that we never thought possible. Our strategy for technology is forward thinking and puts technology enabled care at the forefront of what we do. Our model of integrated care is all about promoting and supporting independence, and is designed to empower individuals to take ownership of their own health and care needs and where people do need care in a hospital or community setting, helping them to get home quickly and back to independence as soon as possible.

Our technology enabled care service is already supporting around 2000 people in Torbay to live healthy, fulfilled and independent lives but we want to enable more people to benefit from the range of technology that is available.

NRS healthcare have the knowledge and expertise to enable the Trust to deliver on its aspirations and provide people locally with more choice and options to support their individual circumstances.”

Chief Executive Officer at NRS Healthcare said:

We are delighted to be expanding the work we already do with Torbay and in Technology Enabled Care. We look forward to working in partnership with the Trust to deliver a truly exciting and innovative TECS service to people across the Torbay area over the next few years

NRS Healthcare are already running TECS Healthcare and have been since Monday the 1st October 2018.

People who are currently using technology-enabled care will not see any changes to the level of service they receive.
