Scarecrows Return to Occombe Farm this October Half-Term

Something enchanting is happening once again this October half-term at Occombe Farm Park & Play. The scarecrows are making a triumphant return, leaving their patches behind to embark on a new thrilling adventure. These characters, gathered from Cockington, Berry Head, and the fields around Occombe, come bearing a brand-new story, a fresh mystery to solve, and a naughty villain to defeat.

From Saturday 21st to Tuesday 31st October 2023, the Big Occombe Scarecrow Trail promises a spellbinding experience for families, friends, and adventurers of all ages. Spot the scarecrows, listen to their stories, and unlock the secrets that will guide them back to their fields.

This is the second year that The Big Occombe Scarecrow Trail has taken place at Occombe Farm, following its popularity in 2022. Izzy Warren, General Manager of Occombe Farm said:

“We were overwhelmed by the support for our first Scarecrow Trail last year. For 2023, our goal is to build on this success and establish it as a firm fixture in our annual event calendar. Our talented teams handmake all the scarecrows and we’ve enlisted the help of local organisations to help us this year too, including South Devon College, Combe Pafford School, Snows Toyota, Bays Brewery and Firscroft Honey Bees.”

Funds raised through events such as this contribute to the work of Occombe’s parent conservation charity, Torbay Coast & Countryside Trust. This local charity is dedicated to conserving 76% of Torbay’s green spaces, including Cockington Country Park, Berry Head National Nature Reserve, and numerous wildlife-friendly woodlands, meadows, pathways, and bridleways.
