Rowcroft Male Trail walks back into Torbay, March 2020

Following the success of the 2019 Male Trail, Rowcroft Hospice are hosting a 2nd Male Trail which is expected to be bigger and better than the previous year.

The Male Trail will be returning to Torbay on the 7th March 2020 and calls for men across South Devon to sign up for the 8 mile walk across Torquay.

Along side encouraging men from South Devon to sign up the Male Trail is also on the hunt for volunteers to help support the event.

Alexia Croft, Rowcroft’s Event Manager said:

The inaugural Male Trail was a real highlight from 2019; we were overwhelmed with level of support we received from the men of South Devon, particularly for a first-time event. The atmosphere was amazing and it  felt like a powerful way to bring together so many men with a shared experience of Rowcroft, who wanted to do something special to support their local hospice.

“We are so proud and grateful to receive incredible support from the local community. We can’t wait to make The Male Trail even bigger in 2020!

In 2019, the Male Trail saw over 400 men taking part in the event, with the whole event raising over £40,000 to help Rowcroft Hospice.

Aiming Higher

As with all Rowcroft Events, participants are encouraged to collect sponsorship to help support the outstanding care provided to people with life-limiting illnesses.

However, if the idea of raising funds from your friends and family is giving you nightmares, no problem, you can make a one time donation to the event in lieu of raising sponsorship.

The ultimate question, is can we beat the £40,000 raised last year?

The route is thought to follow the same path as 2019, and as an incentive the route takes in a variety of “watering holes”.

With the walk finishing, just in time for the England Vs Wales game. All walkers will be met at the finish line with a well-deserved pasty and a pint, completely free.

Chairman of the Torquay Athletic Rugby Club, Jackie Coles said:

Torquay Athletic RFC is proud to host the start and finish of The Male Trail for Rowcroft again this year. We hope to build on the success of last year’s event so even more people can access Rowcroft’s incredible care when they need it most.  TARFC has been established in Torquay for over a century and as such a long- standing part of the community, we feel it is important to support a key local charity that does such fantastic work helping local people and their families.
