Free mince pies and more for unpaid carers

Unpaid carers are often the unsung heroes of our community.

On November 24th 2018, unpaid carers are being invited to Brixham Carers Centre for free mince pies and more.

Kicking off at 3pm at the centre on Kings Street, Brixham, which is ran by the Torbay & South Devon NHS Foundation Trust.

The event is being organised on the 24th as it coincides with the Brixham Christmas market, fireworks and Christmas lights switch on, as part of the town’s Lanterns, Lights and Luminations celebrations.

More than just free mince pies

Have to say, you got our support when we saw free mince pies.

But, alongside the free mince pies and mulled punch, you will also have the opportunity for a free hand massage or nail painting.

Plus, seeing as you’re there you may as well take part in the raffle or purchase one of the many Christmas gifts that will be available on the day.

Further information about the free support services that are available for unpaid carers in Torbay will also be available.

Natalie Townsend, Carers Services and Emotional Support Scheme Coordinator at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation trust said:

If you look after a family member or friend, who cannot manage alone because of their age, mental health, drug or alcohol issue, illness or disability, then you are an unpaid carer! We would like to invite you to drop-in to say ‘hello’, enjoy some free mince pies and mulled punch and find out about the free advice and support that’s available to you!

We hope that many people in town will pop in to find out more about the centre and what we offer unpaid carers – even if it’s just to take the opportunity to warm up andhave some refreshments!

Free mince pies and the event will be running from 3pm-5pm on the 24th November at the Carers Centre in Brixham.
