Finding that Perfect Domain Name

We’ve all been there, we’ve had a brain wave, an idea and have thought right lets do it, lets get my business or hobby registered and online in front of people…I’d like a .com domain name, click search and bang – domain name taken.

Domain names are a multi-million pound industry and the origins of domain names and their value go all the way back to the times of the dot com boom when domain names would cost hundreds sometimes thousands of pounds and would be sold for around the same price.  Today, we can pick up a .com domain name for around £10 per year.

However, people do still have problems when it comes to registering that perfect domain name.  The solution 9 times out of 10 is to simply find an alternative domain name, add a hyphen, add a number or buy a different domain extension.  However, finding that perfect domain doesn’t have to be difficult.

What’s more you find people have registered a domain name and have simply left it, and now it has one of those god awful pages saying .suchandsuch.com is available why not buy it.  Clicking on that link normally reveals a price of 4 figures up.

Today, there are near on 280 domain name extensions to choose from, the traditional .com is of course always the most valuable, however new domain extensions such as dot community, dot business, dot app and so on are appearing all the time.  So when it comes to finding that perfect domain name your no longer limited by the .com.

To find the perfect domain name, sit down and write down all the name you like, do a search for those, if the .com is taken get specific start looking at .community, .org and so on.  The goal here is to secure a domain name that is not only going to set the tone for your audience but also provide you with a website to market.

Finding that perfect domain name doesn’t have to be difficult, and remember you now have 280 other opportunities….
