Nothing quite says Christmas like the smell of a turkey roast, the taste of a mince pie or even the slurp of a glass or 2 of Mulled Wine.

Torbay would like to invite you to kick start Christmas 2017 and the winter season with festive celebrations, sparkling light switch on, a whole host of Christmas inspired shops, a variety of eateries and of course the main event, the Torquay Christmas Carnival Procession on the 18th November 2017.

Torbay has a lot of events going on over the festive period, so to help you we’ve compiled a few of them right here.

Christmas Light Switch Ons

This year Torre will kick off celebrations with their annual light switch on at 6pm on Friday 17th November.  Join the traders, live music and entertainment to get into the festive spirit.

Then join Torquay as the night is lit up with its annual Christmas Light Switch on and Carnival Procession on Saturday 18th November 2017.  Kicking off at 4:30pm at Torquay Coach Station, Lymington Road before making its way through Torquay town centre and onto the Strand before coming to stop by the Princess Theatre at 6:15pm.

On the day, join Fleet Walk Shopping centre from 2pm with local radio station team, The Breeze South Devon and a Robbie Williams Tribute at 4:30pm till 5:15 prior to the main arrival of the carnival procession and Father Christmas.

This year the Christmas lights down on Fleet Walk, and marking the official start of Christmas in Torquay, Torbay, will be switched on by local South Devon and Torbay radio station, The Breeze.

Come back to Torbay and join Paignton as they switch their Christmas lights on, on  November 24th, held by the Paignton Chamber of Trade and Commerce.  Featuring a sparkling new Christmas Tree in Palace Avenue

Go a little further on the 25th November and join Brixham for their annual Lanterns, Lights and Luminations spectacular.

Rounded off with a Grand Firework display and light switch on at 6pm.

Late Night shopping

Many of the shops throughout Torbay will be opening late in the run up to Christmas and on other days, allowing shoppers plenty of time to complete their all important Christmas shopping.

In Torquay, businesses at the top of town, Union Street down will be open late on Thursdays and Harbour Side businesses will remain open late on Friday’s.  This is expected to be from the 24th November 2017 for Fleet Walk and November 23rd for Union Street.

Getting to Torbay this Christmas

No matter where you’re travelling from this Christmas, Torbay is now even easier to get to than ever before.  Whether it be by road, train or the bus, there plenty of ways you can get here.
