Be a part of Torbay’s first Apprenticeships Fair

Apprenticeships are a great way for people to gain commercial experience whilst still in education.

On Wednesday the 10th July 2019, the Torbay Development Agency (TDA) will be holding Torbay’s very first Torbay Apprenticeship Fair at the Riviera International Conference Centre.

This free event will give employers the opportunity to fill live Apprenticeship vacancies. The fair is building on the ambitions of the National Pilot ‘Opportunities Through Apprenticeships’.

Skill matching at Torbay Apprenticeship Fair

The Apprenticeship Fair will also match apprentices skills and interests with the requirements of local businesses in order to give them a kick start in their careers.

Allowing the apprentice to earn whilst they learn and increase the number and value of Apprenticeship starts in Torbay.

TDA Senior Economic Development Officer, Rebecca Davies said:

This is a really exciting event and the first for Torbay. We welcome all businesses across all sectors in Torbay, and the travel to work area, who have live Apprenticeship vacancies. We particularly welcome STEM employers, as well as construction, manufacturing and tourism, all of strategic growth importance to Torbay.

Perfect for School and College Learners

The Apprenticeship fair is perfect for those that are still at school and college as well as their parents.

If you’re a person who is also looking to upskill themselves or their employees then this event is also perfect for you.

At the Apprenticeship fair you can expect over 20 employers from across the sectors offering over 1,000 live apprenticeship vacancies.

There will also be a plethora of other businesses and training providers for you to speak with at the event.

The fair also welcomes STEM employers as well as those from the construction manufacturing and tourism sectors, all of which are at the strategic heart for Torbay.

Heat of the South West Careers Hub

You can also expect to see The Heart of the South West Careers Hub attending the Apprenticeship fair and will be providing information, advice and guidance to schools on implementing their careers strategy.

Emily Tucker, Head of the Apprenticeships and Employer Engagement at South Devon College said:

The Apprenticeships Fair builds on ten targeted events that reached over 1,000 people earlier in the year as part of National Apprenticeship Week. We are delighted to be supporting this new initiative working in partnership for Torbay.

The Torbay Apprenticeship Fair is being delivered in partnership with the Torbay TDA, Devon & Cornwall Training Provider Network, Heart of the South West LEP Careers Hub, South Devon College, Torbay Business Forum and Serco.
